This disease causes rapid aging beginning in early childhood. I understand the best part of parenting is watching your baby's first step, and hearing the first words. Could you imagine watching your child go through the aging process before you experience it yourself?

I can't imagine raising a child that looks like she/he is older than I am. Watching Ashley speak made me feel quite foolish and selfish. It's so easy to focus of what I call "problems" and sulk over them. She inspires me to make the best of a current situation. I love how she says that she can now explain to others what Progeria is and I guess raise awareness. Her maturity level far surpasses most 9th graders.
